Thoughts of Traveling

This week I took all of the days off possible from my internship to return to Estonia for a few days before my Canadian adventures. Next week’s post will be written from the other side of the Atlantic. Quite wild.

I am finally getting into the groove of going, just a week before it happens. Securing accommodation is a big part of that. This was something that really bothered me during the past few months. I would go as far as saying that I was dreading the trip because of it.

I did have a backup plan of staying at my cousin’s and looking for accommodation there. That being said, it feels a lot better to have a place to stay for the 4 months before even landing.

This Sunday I realised that I am starting over again, and that kind of scared me. Putting it into perspective, though, it is no different from the past five years. I have done a lot of environment changing: Brussels-Lille-Tallinn-Lille-Liège. It does feel different this time since it is on a different continent.

Again, thinking rationally, I have some acquaintances there and, as mentioned, even some family. It will be fine. But the social game will be something that I need to build up again. It is a great chance to just meet strangers. Since there is literally no pressure, I am leaving anyway.

The only pressure is that I am the curator of my experience there. I want to do a good job of creating something worthwhile. Currently, I am trying to gather all the data from people around me who have done exchanges to get some “do’s and don’ts”.

Been digging a bit for my Sunrise Disco playlist and this has been a recent favourite. Some Italian dude saying Okay Okay is always cool with a melodic laid back beat. The song feels like drinking an espresso on a terrace somewhere.

📖 “Loss of the Creature” by Walker Percy:
My algorithm has been giving me reading suggestions recently. This is a short 10 page article and I enjoyed it a lot. It discusses the human nature and how we sometimes subconsciously interact with the world around us. Worth a read!
