Showing Up
This blog is my "showing up" practise. The end of August will mark 5 years of weekly blogging. It has become the norm for me to write a few lines every weekend. It is not easy or convenient, and I am not even trying to make a penny out of it.
Yet the weekly Sunday task of finishing up the blog is a ritual now. It marks the end of another week. They are the last few breaths of the weekend, before going to sleep and starting another week. It makes the weekend linger a bit more.
The streak of not having missed a single week for more than 250 weeks is what keeps me going, even when sometimes I question the habit when finishing up the blog after midnight. To avoid breaking the streak, I have even written in advance, like when I was in the forest during the military.
Every time I start reflecting on the existence of this blog, I start to consider changing things up or thinking things over. Yet there is a comfort in the consistency of it. It is a place where I come to reflect on the questions I have had lingering during the week. Or I simply discuss something that I can think of that has sparked my interest.
Today's blog was inspired by my roommate, who is also trying to start documenting his days. He is trying to create more of a daily habit of it, and that is what led me to talk about the concept of showing up with him and now with You.
What are you showing up to?
This Week's Suggestions:
🎶 "Last Train to London" by Electric Light Orchestra:
I have seen this music used in travelling trends online, and the energy that the song evokes is comforting. Especially since I have also been taking the train quite a bit recently for both work and leisure.
Wishing you a beautiful day!
