Everyone on Their Own Arc

I am on holiday in Estonia for a week. Even though it has been the case every other holiday, this time it feels kind of different. I am saying goodbye to a phase of my life where I had conventional holidays that were predetermined.

Upon arriving on Saturday, I was greeted by two friends at the airport. One of them came over from Latvia for the weekend to join us at an event during Tallinn Music Week. We went out that evening and stayed out until 6 A.M.

The very next day, we woke up at 2 P.M with only a minor headache. For the few hours left before my friend went back to Latvia, we had some catching up to do. We discussed other people from high school and what they are up to. It is very peculiar to have everyone be on their own arc of evolution. Everyone is doing their own thing.

Some of them are still in Brussels, some work in Paris, and some stayed in the town where they studied. Meeting up with them, I find it fascinating to see people work out little by little who they might be.

All of this gives a feeling of nostalgia about the years spent studying, but also a rather big share of excitement about what lies ahead. How and if we will cross paths with these people in some other chapters of life.
