Capital Change
On Wednesday, I had the idea of going to Paris. So I went. During my stay, I met up with a good friend from high school. We were both a bit shaken up by staying up past our bedtimes the night before. So we got together, bought a soft drink and sat on a bench on Saint Louis Island.
For a bit, we simply sat in the moment of the hungover heatwave. We then discussed our situations. We spoke about Canada. We spoke about how we want to travel to the Eurasian mountains. We spoke about Paris. We spoke about how the Spanish king has to sign the diploma when graduating in Spain.
After a little while, this friend brought up that my French has improved a lot since moving to France. Makes sense, even if I have not really noticed it myself. He added that he’s got the full picture of my evolution. From the start of secondary school while playing football during recess to now. Every time we got together, I had improved.
But boasting about my French is not actually the point here (surprising, I know). I enjoy the idea of having someone to observe while also being seen with a different perspective. Having a lasting friendship in which you can see the other person's evolution is indeed fascinating. And it is proof that people absolutely do change.
This interaction made me happy about having not one but multiple friends. It makes for more interesting stories to follow along and drop in on.
This Week's Suggestions:
🎶 "Fantasy (Sweet Dub Mix)" by Mariah Carey:
After I Land Sound, I started to look for more songs like this one. It is the perfect sunrise disco. After a night of deeper and darker music, as the sun rises, the energy is full of pure joy. This song slows down and then rebuilds itself to come back even stronger. A beauty.
Have a lovely start of the week!
