We won, what's next?

We came out on top for these student council elections. It was one hell of a ride. I was recruited in April of last year while still in the barracks. Since then there have been ups and downs – I had to create a 1901 association for the French state, an associative bank account and an Excel to follow all transactions.

I think one of my lowest points was at the end of January – we had two months to get together the amount of €17300 to make happen all of our events and we were about €6000 off target. For quite some nights I stared at the ceiling, scared. That being said, somehow we got there. We made it happen with sponsors and referral bank account openings. Still in awe that everything worked out.

The campaign week was a remarkable experience. As I mentioned last week, there were a lot of parallels with my military experience – completing a mission whilst on a lack of sleep and completely drenched in water. The one difference was that the emotional state of others was way less suppressed.

The week was composed of multiple events. It started with the revelations on Friday – our teams were revealed to the school and we got to do our choreography in front of 500 people. After that was an unofficial hangout at a bar with students to get to know each other a bit more.

On Saturday there were two events the "Big Game" for which we made, in our theme, an escape room inside a classroom. This was followed by the main party "Interliste" which was from 10 P.M to 4 A.M. This meant that after all the cleaning we got home around 7 A.M.

The next day was the so-called SOS day. This means that from 8 A.M to 5 P.M we are at the disposal of all students – we bring premade breakfast and snack packs and help students clean their apartments. The slight twist is that usually, students like to make you consume copious amounts of alcohol at the same time. It is a tradition.

Needless to say on 30 minutes of sleep it is a big mess of a day. Turned out great though. The following days were more calm. Well, the stress was still building up – the results were coming in on Wednesday.

Turns out our work was more appreciated by the students. I am very grateful for that. What this means is that next year I will be the treasurer of the student council. The one who distributes the budgets to all of the council's commissions like BPM. The handover process is already underway. I will be having a meeting this week to get an introduction to my upcoming work.

It will be quite an experience. I am sure that I am up to the task, but I know that it will not be easy. The important thing is to close all accounts that were made for the previous year – a lot of paperwork and reimbursements. That is what I signed up for after all.

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Lately" by Jody Wisternoff feat. Rondo Mo remixed by  (Eli & Fur Open Air Remix):

This is some good melodic study music. This song is in my NYC kind of underground playlist which is just melodic house. Have a listen, it is very soothing!

Till next week!
