The Holiday Routine

The Holiday Routine
“Fine Day” by Sub Focus

This first week of holidays I spent in Lille. During the holidays the city is deserted. All the students leave. In a way, it is cool to see the town so empty. Simultaneously, this emptiness in what usually is such a living city, is somewhat depressing.

For this vacant period, I decided to set 3 main tasks that I want to do every day of the week. The first was fitness-oriented. Last Sunday, my sister challenged me to be her gym buddy. I accepted. Every morning for the past work week we went to the gym together.

The second goal was to work on a school project every day a little bit. The project is the BAA project (this stands for "bâtiment, aménagement et architecture" in English: building, layout and architecture). In the first semester, we constructed the model of a museum. This time around, we are drawing the museum. We are to make a comic with at least 8 different perspectives of said building. It is fun but it takes time. That's why it was one of the three tasks for this week.

The final task for this week was to get behind the DJ decks every day after doing the two previous tasks. This is to prepare for the Silent Disco I am playing in Tartu next week. Tartu is the student town in Estonia. I am excited to see what the Estonian student experience is about since I have mostly acquired French experience myself.

This was my main goal for this week. Stick to those three tasks. Everything else is a bonus. This type of mentality towards my work and time helped me be present in my work and outside of it.

It was a great way to live for a week even though I must recognise that this type of lifestyle is simply not possible during school. That being said I do have a dream that after the holidays I will keep a few of these practices going. Mostly I would like to go to the gym twice a week and cook one new meal every week.

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 “Fine Day” by Sub Focus:

Sub Focus has an album coming out very soon and this is one of the tracks that is pre-released off of it. It is the perfect example of simplicity making for something amazing. There is the vocal, a melody and drums. That’s it. Simple, effective and beautiful. Check it out!

🍚 Making Butter Chicken Faster Than A Restaurant:

This is one of the recipes I made this week. Joshua Weissman's cooking videos are very entertaining in my opinion. This is one video I decided to act upon since I usually just binge on his different types of cooking challenges.

That would be all for this time!
