Spring Speculations

Recently I was presented with an interesting piece of information. I have completed 8 months of military service. We are already in March, it is pretty much spring. The days are longer, there is sun sometimes, and the snow has melted for the most part. I would like to believe that the worst is behind us meteorologically speaking.

Time moved slowly during the winter. Winter already started in October here if we use snow as a metric for winteriness. The start of the winter was simultaneously the most challenging part of our course here in the army. It was an arduous time, but now we are past that. Thanks to these challenges we are better at what we do and more confident while doing it, so it was for a greater cause.

There was another situation that made me think of the passing of time. My older sister from Lille came to Estonia for a week. I did not get to spend that much time with her. The little time I got was already enough to spark my memories of Lille. Talking to her I had genuine flashbacks. I reminisced on the roads I walked daily, the places I'd spend time in and the people that surrounded me.

In turn, this made me think of how much things will have changed there and how much I have changed here. The dynamics of friend groups will probably not be the same and some places will have been restructured. This fact does not bother me, or maybe just does not bother me yet, we shall see.

I guess we are at the part of the year at which the pace picks up. Gotta start making plans for summer, gotta start thinking forward. I am not complaining. It is time for change. Change is good.
