Pros, Cons and Deadlines
"Locked out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars

This week was a week of reflection, as I had planned it out to be. The goal is to set goals and maybe get a clearer direction of what I am heading towards and what do I want to head towards.

As mentioned last week, this goal-setting was along 4 main axes: studies/career, finances/autonomy, health/mind and relationships. These 4 axes were repeated for 3 time frames: 3 months, a year and 5 years.

I have to be honest, I did not go through with all of it since it is strenuous, but I did do 3 months and one year, so two-thirds. The 5-year-plan I discussed on a call with a good friend on Saturday evening.

Doing the five-year projecting made me realise that in 5 years I will indeed be 29, which is pretty much 30, which is a funny age at which I believe that people could know a bit better how things work.

And to know how things work, you need experience. Experience in everything and anything. So that was somewhat of a call-to-action to move around and be open to different opportunities.

This also made me rethink what I had already decided for sure, which was to take a gap year in order to gain experience in the professional field I am going into and also get 4 months off to have a last summer holiday as a student.

Instead, I am again considering doing an Erasmus, as I thought at the start of the year. The reason is that the two six-month internships can be very rewarding, but probably not financially, and the return on investment (ROI) on these two internships does not seem as good as it used to.

This is especially the case after talking to my old peers who are in their 5th year currently. The main feedback I had was that my upcoming 4-month internship is already enough to get a clearer vision of the real world. The 4-month internship is, of course, followed by a 6-month internship at the end of our studies.

So maybe postponing my studies for another year to gather more experience might not be the way. Well, I'm not declaring anything with 100% certainty this time around, but this choice will have to be made at some point. In a month to be precise. So there is time, but not too much either.

This means there will be a lot more pros and cons lists upcoming for me!

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Locked out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars:

About 4 years ago, in another post of mine, I suggested another song from this album, "Natalie". For context, I got this album on CD as a present when I was 11 years old, so there is a great deal of nostalgia that comes with listening to it.

Wishing you a week full of life!
