What The France

What The France
"Piano Concerto No. 1 in B-flat minor" by Tchaikovsky performed Svjatoslav Richter and Herbert von Karajan

Things are starting to pay off. It feels damn good when you have put in the work. One concrete example is France's CAF (family allowance fund) system. This fund sends all students a monthly payment which is proportional to the rent on their apartment.

During my prépa time, I tried to get the wheel rolling but found it close to impossible. Now I feel a lot more confident completing administrative paperwork and I believe I even understand what is being asked of me and what my rights are.

That is quite a step up! Anyway, I am almost done with the CAF stuff, and when I am I will be receiving a solid 100€ of extra income monthly. That being said I still do not approve of the French administrative system which is too difficult to navigate, even if I am getting used to it.

Secondly, in associative life. With bpm, the techno association, we organised 3 events during the first semester. They were fun but rather small-scale. At the end of December, we decided that we needed to go big or go home.

We are taking all the budget we are assigned for the year and making an event with it. It is expensive but it is going to be very nice. All the details are not public yet, but it is a party for 350 people in a space that we rent out and we bring a sound guy with his sound system.

Until recently this project was still a feeble collection of ideas. Now we have reserved the sound system, the venue, and an exterior artist all whilst working on communication – posters and social media posts.

In the start of February, I got multiple results of such kind that things are moving. They might not be done, but they are moving – and that is a relief. It is so gratifying to see results for the work you put in.

This Week's Suggestions:

Writing this on Monday morning and listening to this precise version of Tchaikovsky on vinyl. What an absolute masterpiece.

That would be all for today!
