Missing Lists

As I mentioned last week, on the seventh day of forest I made a list of things I missed about the civil world. I have used this practice multiple times since. For example, this Sunday I made a list of things I miss from my life in France. This included but was not limited to raclette evenings.

Till this forest experience, I was sceptical of creating hopes for the future. For me, it meant that one is living in the future. This seemed dangerous because in this scenario we are not here to experience the given moment. We cannot learn from it, we cannot rejoice in it since we are not present.

That being said, this list thing has been more useful than I could have thought. It makes it clear what we are looking forward to which in turn creates motivation. My point is — question your beliefs. You might have it all wrong!

I have yet to start projecting myself into the future properly. I have tried beforehand, but it was a shallow effort that did not bear much fruit. Goal-setting is something I would like to evolve towards. It is about time, right? New Year is right around the corner.

The problem I had last time is that my goals were not actionable and accessible enough. It was a list somewhere deep in my Notion database somewhere I never went. Furthermore, I did not break it down into smaller parts which could have made it easier to digest. I will try to rectify this after next week’s survival camp.

How do You project yourself? Any and all tips are very welcome and appreciated!

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Time Is The Enemy" by Quantic:

This song came on during a late-night talk with my brother and I feel like it encapsulates that vibe rather well. It has somewhat of a dramatic tone to it yet it is soothing. I do not know how to describe this piece in any more detail so just listen to it instead!

🎬 "How Long is Now?" by exurb1a:

This video is an introduction to metaphysics. Meta is the Greek prefix that means beyond or after. So metaphysics is the description of what is beyond the limits of physics. For example metaphysics questions the consistency of our world. Can we take for granted the sun rising every morning if it has done so for the past billion years? Why do we? Exurb1a is a pedant who brings dry humour along on the ride. In my opinion, it is the best way to introduce profound topics. Check it out!

Have a great one!
