Instinct over Intellect

During one of my recent scrolling sessions, I happened in the realm of inspirational quotes. Sometimes these are very cringy and very "Alpha Male" type. Other times the quotes are very well selected and stay with you for a while. It was the case with this quote from an interview with Cillian Murphy.

This quote resonates with me because I tend to be on the wrong side of it. I tend to rationalise things, make them make sense, and find a box to put them in. I like to believe that this helps with solving my problems. That being said, I have noticed that this does not always lead to the best results, sometimes it is even detrimental to the end goal.

When reasoning, someone like myself, who has only been here for 21 spins around the Sun does not have enough experience to "trust one's gut". Yet that's the fallacy – we are again trying to reason our way out of it. On the contrary, if we start earlier, we can build trust with our instincts. Since reason can only take us so far, we need to be able to rely on what feels right as Cillian Murphy puts it.
