Frozen Forest Frenzy

From today till the 5th of December, I shall be in the forest. That would be nine days. The longest we have gone to the forest beforehand is four days, three nights. Keeping that in mind, it is also the first time we shall be going to the forest with snow. At the moment in Estonia, the temperature is below 0°C and there is a considerable layer of snow.

That being said, this is better than what we got last camp – the temperature was between 5 and 10°C and it was wet. When everything is frozen at least it is dry. Every time there are new challenges. This time around it is going to be dealing with the snow. It renders all operations more complicated. Walking is more tiring. You can be tracked with ease due to footsteps. Furthermore, snow does melt and becomes water in the process which as dumb as it sounds is something to keep in mind.

We are constantly told that the army gets more difficult with every passing week. I must say that it is factual. The first forest in summer seemed so difficult at the moment. Yet it was only 2 nights and the difficulty of our operations was very small. Now we are quadrupling the amount of time and also the difficulty of tasks.

That's the point though – getting us to get as close to reality as possible, to train for the real thing. It makes sense. It does not have to be pleasant. It has to be informative about our own capabilities. It is self-discovery through experimenting.

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Rave Out" by Turno, Skepsis & Charlotte Plank:

Lovely dnb tune that I rediscovered recently. The vocals and lyrics are on point and the production brings it all together. Have a listen!

See you on the other side!
