Disconnect to Reconnect

Disconnect to Reconnect
"Silence" by Tiesto and Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan

As you might have noticed last week, I signed off with "Warm hellos from the Mediterranean coast!" That's because I ended up in Nice for my holidays. The trip was not planned; it was more of an impulse decision. I bought the tickets 4 days in advance.

A good friend of mine moved there in January for his internship, and I knew I wanted to visit during his six months in Nice — both to see him and to experience the city beyond a quick drive-through.

It was a good decision. Whilst it was snowing in Lille, in Nice it was a sunny 20°C day. Furthermore, the place really helped me disconnect. Even if I was looking into some internship paperwork and Canadian administrative stuff, it was not at the forefront of my activities.

I finished a whole season of a series, drank coffee at the beach while journaling, and even went tanning and swimming once. Watching the light blue waves crash into the rocky coast in itself had a meditative effect on me.

It is an absolute privilege to be a student with a few connections in different cities. The expectations of a student on accommodations are low, and responsibilities are fewer.

Even if I expect to have more free time when I graduate, I know that usually people have the opposite experience. So I will try to use all the time that I have as wisely as possible to do more and be more present.

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Silence" by Tiesto and Delerium featuring Sarah McLachlan:

In Nice, while walking on the beach, I happened upon some trance classics from the 2000's. It is what I could imagine being played in Ibiza in these years. This is an example of such a song. The tension that is created with a 5-minute build-up is insane, and the release is perfect.

Have a sunny day!
