Dance the Cha-Cha

Dance the Cha-Cha
"Cha-cha" by La Femme

This was the third week of school. My friends who already completed the third year have told me that the third year is a lot easier compared to the whole preparatory school experience. I took their word for it.

They were not wrong, the difficulty of the subjects taught is simpler. There is less science and more talk. Which is a nice change, but I do miss my science. It was part of what motivated me. This combined with my taking up the role of vice-president in my school's techno association and that I also want to work out 5 times a week has made a slight mess in my timetable.

What I started doing was going to the gym before school. So, like in the army, I would wake up at 6 A.M during school days and go to the gym after breakfast. Classes tend to start at 8 o'clock most days. The problem is that most days they also go until 6 P.M. This is quite a heavy workload, especially if I am not very intrigued by the subjects.

The extra strain is that I have not been in Lille for a year. This means there is a lot of catching up to do by socialising – going out for a drink, having dinner together or going to events together. I love seeing people again and discussing my past year with them, but my calendar was torn to shreds by this. Some days would start at 6 A.M and finish at 10 P.M without a split second to chill by myself.

That is why within the first three weeks I had some early signs of burnout. This surprised me since it was only the first three weeks. That being said, such a pace is hard to keep. So what is the solution? Less working out? Less school? Less socialising?

My plan for the upcoming week is to schedule time for myself. Time to take a nap, read a book or other. I will also try to meditate, when I find the time, and simply be more present. Enjoy moments while they happen. It is simple, but I needed a reminder of it.

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Cha-cha" by La Femme:

I have been hooked on all the songs of La Femme recently. I love their style which is so varied. They do songs in French, English and Spanish. This one is in Spanish and it has such a good lead melody to it. Have a listen!

That's all for me!
