Beep Boop, You Live in a Loop
"Smile" by Mista Trick & Fizzy Gillespie featuring Lottie Jones

I uninstalled Instagram. I haven't done it in a while so felt like the right moment. The time spent on that app could be better distributed to doing more productive stuff – reading Rodin's biography, writing the blog or simply doing homework.

The main problem throughout my time on Instagram is that I am under the illusion that I communicate quite a bit on that platform. So turning it off is like closing off a communication system completely, or so it feels.

This is until a close friend discovered an app that lets you redirect all your messages to one single app from Instagram, WhatsApp, Messenger and other platforms. The app is Beeper, I have not used it a lot yet but it completes the simple functions that I want from it – give me the chat logs of Instagram without the scrolling capabilities.

I am also missing out on stories on Instagram, but that's a write-off I am willing to make. Furthermore, I might sometimes consult the web version from the computer where some of the functionalities are better than on the relay messenger.

I would like to get a better grasp on attention span – it has been on a steady decline since the army I would argue. I have read fewer books and have had fewer tasks that demand long periods of focus.

This Week's Suggestions:

🎶 "Smile" by Mista Trick & Fizzy Gillespie featuring Lottie Jones:

Feels right to promote some drum and bass at 175 beats per minute for the 175th post. Lottie Jones is a great vocalist and this song brings it all together melody, vocals and drums. The story told in itself is rather sad but the vibe overall is rather happy – interesting contrast.

🎬 "How China is creating a new kind of internet":

A quick 10-minute look into how China mastered the use of the internet for their state. It's fascinating how easy they make it seem to control even such a vast space as the online world.

That's all for this (hopefully) sunny February morning!
