3 Tips From The Forest

I am alive and well after those 10 days in the forest! It was a little rough at times and my feet were not very happy about the 170 km I put them through. That being said, looking back it was quite an experience. We had some successful operations and some less successful operations. We did get some good feedback though.
Here's the first thought: slow is smooth and smooth is fast. This easy-to-grasp principle is a good reminder to practise movements and thought processes. Do things qualitatively and as slowly as necessary. The speed will come with repetition. The movements will get smoother and then faster.
Next thought: speed is not created by faster movements but by parallel movement. In the army, this is more true than anywhere else. Instead of having all men on one task, breaking the task into smaller tasks is helpful. This helps to make progress on multiple fronts simultaneously.
Lastly, the best nugget of advice was to clarify the "why". We were asked a simple question during one of the operations: why are you doing what you are doing in the forest? What is your purpose? We struggled to give a clear answer. Having clarity on the purpose can give a lot of information on how to do things and how to act in certain scenarios. Be active!
I hope these ideas were helpful! They are elegant yet powerful concepts which are good to reflect upon from time to time.
This Week's Suggestions:
🎶 "Satellite" by Dimension and Alison Wonderland:
This song is finally out! Dimension had been teasing it for quite a while in his sets. It is a lovely drum and bass song with a 4x4 first drop and a normal second drop. It has a catchy melody and good vocals.
Till next week!
